A catalog of bright calibrator stars for 200-meter baseline near-infrared stellar interferometry
We present in this paper a catalog of reference stars suitable for calibrating infrared interferometric observations. In the K band, visibilities can be calibrated with a precision of 1 % on baselines up to 200 meters for the whole sky, and up to 300 meters for some part of the sky. This work, extending to longer baselines a previous catalog compiled by Bordé et al. (2002), is particularly well...
متن کاملExtragalactic Objects and Next Generation Interferometers
The most obvious extragalactic targets for optical/infrared interferometers are Active Galactic Nuclei. In this document, I try to overview other topics that could be of interest to studies of galaxies and whether they could be adequate for a next generation interferometer. The very high spatial resolution would be profitable for extragalactic supernovae, globular clusters, star forming regions...
متن کاملThe UCAC3 Star Catalog: A New Catalog of Optical Reference Stars for Space Surveillance
Version three of the U.S. Naval Observatory CCD Astrograph Catalog (UCAC3) was released in August 2009. As the first version of the UCAC to cover the entire sky, UCAC3 is a suitable source of optical reference stars in the R = 8 to 16 magnitude range. Containing just over 100 million objects and providing stellar positional accuracies of about 15 to 100 milliarcseconds (mas) per coordinate, UCA...
متن کاملInformation Portals: The Next Generation Catalog
Libraries today face an increasing challenge: to provide relevant information to diverse populations with differing needs, while competing with Web search engines like Google. In 2009 the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Libraries joined with other libraries and Innovative Interfaces as development partners to design a new type of discovery tool. Information portals as a concept best suppor...
متن کاملCircumstellar disks and planets Science cases for next-generation optical/infrared long-baseline interferometers
We present a review of the interplay between the evolution of circumstellar disks and the formation of planets, both from the perspective of theoretical models and dedicated observations. Based on this, we identify and discuss fundamental questions concerning the formation and evolution of circumstellar disks and planets which can be addressed in the near future with optical and infrared long-b...
